Display and Design
The Asus Zenfone Max 2016 (3GB RAM) exhibits a 5.5-inch large IPS LCD display featuring HD resolution (720 x 1,280 pixels) and having a pixel density of 267 ppi. The display is guarded by Corning Gorilla Glass v4 and also features Bluelight Filter technology to reduce stress on your eyes. Although it comes with upgraded specs under the hood compared to older version, the design remains the same with three capacitive buttons below the screen, along with volume and power buttons on the right. On the back, camera lens is accompanied by LED flash and autofocus sensors on its side along loudspeaker grille at the bottom.
Configuration and Platform
The Asus Zenfone Max 2016 (3GB RAM) comes with the latest Android v6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box further customized by company's own Zen UI 2.0. The device is armed with two quad-core Cortex A53 processor having clock speed of 1.7 and 1GHz. The smartphone also comes packed with Adreno 405 GPU and huge 3GB RAM for handling multitasking and high graphic demanding operations. All these hardware come seated on Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 chipset built on 64-bit architecture. It houses a 32GB inbuilt storage which is further expandable upto 64GB via microSD card and also features OTG support.
Camera and Connectivity
The smartphone features a 13MP main camera of f/2.0-aperture with the ASUS PixelMaster 2.0 technology. It is also equipped with BSI sensor, dual LED flash for which improves its low light visibility and Laser autofocus that can lock onto an object in 0.3 second. For selfies it comes with a 5MP front camera of f/2.0-aperture. Connectivity features present dual SIM, 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11, b/g/n along with mobile hotspot, Bluetooth v4.0 and microUSB 2.0. The sensors included in this device are Accelerometer, Compass, Proximity, Hall and light sensor. On this front it lacks gyroscope and also fingerprint sensor which is becoming pretty standard for a device in this price segment.
The primary highlight of this smartphone like its older version is its mighty non-removable 5000mAh li-polymer battery. Unexpectedly this device lacks quick charging feature which means it can take the nearly 4 hours to get this battery fully charged causing a little inconvenience. Although once charged fully it can deliver upto 3 days of battery life with general usage.
The Asus Zenfone Max 2016 (3GB RAM) comes with a lot of upgrades compared to the previous version. Although like them its primary attraction also is its huge battery life. It does have some of its drawbacks although those are completely outweighed by its powerful configuration making this smartphone a good option to buy, especially if you hate charging your phone every now and then.
