Nokia already has a decent set of location based apps including Nokia Drive, Transport, Maps, Pulse and City Lens. However, as per Nokia, this is only the tip of the iceberg and the maps can be more than getting a person from point A to point B.

To do more than what already exist, Nokia introduces HERE, an HTML 5 based platform which can work on any screen or any OS. Even if you don’t have an Here app installed or you don’t have an smart phone, you can access it on here.net or m.here.net.

The company has already submitted this app to Apple app store. Prioritizing Apple over other OS seems to be right move as Apple had recently replace the Google Maps with its own location based app which drew rave criticism from users. Nokia will soon release a developer toolkit to for Android developers allowing them to integrate Nokia HERE in their existing or upcoming apps. The company also have plans to develop apps for upcoming Mozilla Firefox OS.
