The Samsung Galaxy S IV has long been on the offing, and now the South Korean manufacturer has finally revealed its launch date to be 14th March this year. The official launch will happen in New York, USA.

The announcement was made at the MWC, 2013 by Samsung’s mobile division chief, JK Shin. He also said that, “We introduced the Galaxy S III in London last year, and this time we changed the venue (to New York)… as we were bombarded with requests from U.S. mobile carriers to unveil the Galaxy S IV in the country.” Samsung’s aim in unveiling the latest edition of the Galaxy series in the USA can also be read as a take on Apple’s iPhone market.

The company has been very secretive about the device features, and a spokesperson said that all details will be revealed at the time of the official launch event.

However, we do know that the Galaxy S 4 will have a 5 inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen display with 1920x1080 pixels resolution at 440 ppi pixel density. The device runs on the Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean operating system. Further, it will be powered by a 2.5GHz Snapdragon processor assisted by the integrated Mali-T658 GPU, and 2GB of RAM, which will phenomenally enhance its performance when compared with its predecessors. The smart device is rumored to have a 13 MP rear camera with flash and a 2MP front camera.

There is no more news just now on the device’s worldwide availability. We hope for some news on that count at the official launch event, unless the company decides to drop some more hints in the meanwhile.
