In addition to the Laptop-desktop-tablet hybrid, Acer also announced the much anticipated Iconia A1 tablet in the New York event. The device packs some impressive specification for an affordable price tag.

Acer Iconia A1 features 7.9-inch, 1024 x 768 pixels, IPS display running Android 4.2 out of the box. Underneath, its powered by 1.2 GHz Quad-core processor from Mediatek which will be supported by 1GB Ram. On the camera front it packs a 5MP camera at the back and a VGA camera on the front.

The tablet will come both Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + 3G variant. There will also be variants depending on Memory capacities of 8GB and 16GB. The tablet range will start from a price tag of $169. Since Acer Iconia B1 did well in terms of sales in India, we assume the tablet to hit Indian market pretty soon. Probably, by the end of June.

Acer Iconia A1 key specifications:

  • 7.9-inch, 1024 x 768 pixels, IPS display

  • Android 4.2

  • 1.2 GHz Quad core processor, 1GB Ram

  • 5MP camera, VGA front camera

  • 3G (depends on variants), Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth

  • Micro USB, HDMI ports

While the 7.9 inch display makes it stand against the mighty iPad mini, it could also pose a tough competition to Google Nexus 7.
