As per reports, Qualcomm has forwarded authorization to Airtel to launch 4G services in 4 of its circles comprising the national capital and Mumbai.
Previous reports stated that Airtel will introduce 4G services the national capital and Mumbai circle in affiliation with Qualcomm.
The GSM service supplier has signed up a contract with the Qualcomm to launch 4G services on its behalf.
Qualcomm had pocketed Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum or 4G permissions the national capital, Mumbai, Haryana as well as the state of Kerala.
Presently, it entered into a deal with Bharti Airtel under which it has given authorization to the telecom giant with the aim to activate its 4G services in the four circles till the year 2014.
Bharti already has Broadband Wireless Access authorizations in four states comprising Kolkata, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra - and 3G permissions in thirteen circles crosswise the nation.
With this contract, Bharti has got a countrywide broadband control via a amalgamation of 4G and 3G, with its personal networks in 18 different circles.
Airtel has already rolled out its 4G services in the states of Kolkata and Karnataka.
