Airtel announces Blackout Days on voice calls

Bharti Airtel, India’s top most Mobile Service Operator has now announced an extension of Blackout days to its Voice calling services along with SMS. After the announcement of Blackout days from Idea Cellular, Airtel was already being expected to extend its Blackout days’ list.

It has been clearly mentioned now on the Airtel website “All the Voice calls and person to person SMS will be charged at Normal Rates and not as Discounted Rates”.

It is to be noted that that no SMS Benefits will be applicable on Blackout days. The company will be charging as per base tariff Plan on the special days that have been listed as the Blackout Days by the Service Provider.

The Airtel Voice Calls and SMS Blackout days in the coming year 2013 include: 1st January- New Year, 14th February - Valentine’s Day, 27th March - Holi, 3rd November - Diwali and 31st December - New Year Eve.

The Mobile Service Provider has announced that it will be charging Normal SMS rate of Re. 1 per local SMS, Rs.1.50 for National SMS and Rs. 5 for International SMS on the Blackout days it has listed. Also, Airtel has announced the rates for Voice Calls to be charged as per the base tariff Plan of the customers on the special days. The charges will be applied between 00.00 Hr to 24.00 Hrs on the Blackout Days.

Airtel has surely taken a tough decision that may result in many of its users to chose number portability to some other service providers in future. Let’s see how Airtel Mobile users react with the details of Blackout days announced by their Mobile service provider.
