Android 4.1 running 10% of Android devices

A recent statistics report by Android Developers states that 10% of all Android devices, runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.


According to this report, Android 4.1 & Android 4.2 together runs 10% of all Android devices.

The Android 2.3 Gingerbread, still have the major share with running approx. 50% of all Android devices. And the reach of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has increased very fast and it now runs around 30% of all Android Devices.

Honeycomb is the least used Android OS and runs around 2% of Android Devices. Android Froyo is used around 9% and Donut Eclair is used in around 3 Percent of all Android devices.

Android 4.0 ICS saw a major growth due to the high sales of smartphones like Samsung Galaxy Note II and Samsung Galaxy S3. Many other brands like HTC are also offering their smartphones, running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S2 and Samsung Galaxy Note will soon have an upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which will surely increase the share of Jelly Bean.

Many New handsets are launched running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. so, it will also increase its shares and gingerbread may fall down a bit. But yet some manufacturers are offering mid priced Android Smartphones running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was introduced in November 2011 and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was unveiled in mid 2012.
