Apple iBooks 2 makes textbooks redundant

Sticking to their reputation of offering innovative technology and solutions from time to time, Apple announced their next piece of revolutionary offering called “iBooks 2”. iBooks 2, an iPad application provides an immersive, interactive and complete alternative for learning as compared to the boring textbook that is least interactive to say. Currently over 1.5 million educational institutions worldwide use iPads. So, Apple wants to provide an even better use case for this tablet. Apart from just a learning medium, iBooks 2 can also test the students level of learning and understanding through quizzes.

From today, iBooks 2 is available as download in Appstore for FREE. There will be some free educational books to understand the power of iBooks 2. Pearsons, McGraw Hill and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt have already partnered with Apple to provide textbooks in the iBooks 2 format. Several high school books are already available as iBooks 2 format and the pricing starts from $14.99.

Apple is also offering another app called ‘iBooks Author’ to allow anyone to create textbooks in the iBooks 2 format!
