“The ASUS Zenfone 2 Deluxe features 4GB of RAM and sports a unique rear cover”
As smartphones accrue more and more power, some complain that they all look the same. Yet there are some who tend to stand out. After a successful run of its Zenfone series, ASUS has now added newer variants to the line-up. The recently-unveiled Zenfone 2 Deluxe is a great example of how performance and aesthetics can do wonders when clubbed together. Let’s check out this capable new offering from ASUS.
From the front, the handset looks akin to its sibling – the Zenfone 2 (review) - with a black panel hosting a full HD 5.5-inch IPS LCD display, protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and a row of capacitive touch buttons above the premium-looking chrome band. But when you turn the phone around, the whole game changes. The new device features a 3D textured back panel. The multifaceted surface also changes its shades when tilted around.
This bold designing feels both premium and cool at the same time, making your phone look distinct from the herd. The power button is on top and the volume rocker at the back, which makes the phone’s edges button free… allowing you to watch videos in landscape with no fear of accidentally pressing something.
Though a beauty in looks, Zenfone 2 Deluxe is a beast when it comes to performance. Packing a 64-bit quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor, the phone can handle the most complex tasks with ease. The Zenfone 2 was the world’s first smartphone to pack 4 gigabytes of RAM, which the Deluxe purposefully inherits. This means that apart from running apps smoothly, the phone would also be able to manage more of them simultaneously. You can multitask and switch between background apps seamlessly, without any hiccups or stutters. There’s no need of using any third-party apps to free up RAM, and unlike other smartphones, the phone doesn’t slow down when you have a tons of apps running in the background. Just so you know, there are just a handful of smartphones out there that boast 4GB RAM, and the Deluxe is not only one of the most affordable ones in that lot, it defies its asking price to come across as a blazing-fast performer. And to complement the hardware, the Android Lollipop has been enhanced to create ZenUI – an easy to use and intuitive Android skin patented by ASUS. It features a redesigned interface, a host of pre-installed apps and various other functionalities that make the whole user experience better.
Like its elder brother, the Deluxe too features similar capable optics. A 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-colour LED flash and an efficient 5MP front shooter. The optics come with PixelMaster technology which promises beautiful shots in the day and vivid images in the dark as well. The dual-SIM 4G phone also packs a 3,000mAh battery with the power saving tweaks of the ZenUI and support for fast charging as well. The device supports a myriad of connectivity options including 4G, NFC, USB On-the-Go and even FM radio. The phone comes in two storage configurations – 128GB and 64GB, with memory further expandable to 64 gigabytes more via microSD. With the 64GB model priced at Rs 22,999, it’s one of the affordable smartphones with 4GB RAM and one of the best lookers at that.
