BBC Sport App launched on Android Devices

BBC has launched a new app for Android OS devices - the BBC Sport app, to cater to sports fans across the world.


The app has been available on the iOS devices for a while now. The network spokesperson says that the Android app will retain the core features available on the iOS app. The app is compatible with Android 2.2 Froyo version and above.

The main features of the app include:

  • Top stories and breaking news

  • Live text commentaries from all the major sporting events and daily Sportsday live

  • A new Football section including fixtures, results, live scores for each competition and league

  • Latest football gossip

  • Live video streaming and video clips on the media asset pages

  • Sharing via email, Facebook and Twitter

A lot of importance has been given to Football, so fans of the game will find it very convenient to stay updated on the latest happenings. They can follow their favourite teams, and players and also stay updated on the games and watch live clippings of the matches.

The video streaming feature is available only on devices with Android 2.2 version and above. However, older Android version owners can download BBC Media Player to watch these videos. The app is also available for small 7 inch tablet devices and the Amazon Kindle Fire models too.

The TV network has updated a mobile media frequently asked questions (FAQ) page with answers to any queries regarding the app.
