After Kolkata, now its time for Bangalore to get the 4G network. Bharti Airtel is launching its High Speed Wireless Broadband Service, claimed to be 4G LTE, in the city on May 7.
Sources say the 4G network is ready in Bangalore and just the commercial service is to roll out on May 7 after an official launch event.
So far, out of several players such as Reliance and Aircel, only Bharti Airtel has launched 4G services in the country. Kolkata was its first city where the telecom giant launched the service about a month ago. Bangalore is the second such city in the list of several to enjoy the service.
Bharti has tied up with Huawei to deploy the 4G TD LTE network in Karnataka apart from offering its rich data content in Bangalore - Karnataka circle.
Bharti is learned to offer the fourth-generation service on several devices such as Airtel 4G - LTE USB modem and Airtel 4G LTE Indoor Wireless Gateway.
According to Airtel, the 4G enabled 128KB USIM is to be used on the dongle. The USIM will cost Rs 49 and the price of dongle will be between Rs 7999 and Rs 7750.
The telecom giant claims the speed of the 4G network would be up to 40Mbps as of now.
Airtel has got the license to offer 4G network in Kolkata, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Punjab circles. However, in Maharashtra the company has not won the bid for Mumbai city.
