The BBM Channels will be available for BlackBerry users to begin with and will later come to Android and iOS
BlackBerry might have not done so great with the BlackBerry Messenger or BBM launch for Android and iOS but quite surely the company is working its way towards making BBM an interesting application for users globally. Now BlackBerry has incorporated a new social platform BBM Channels, in BBM messenger for BlackBerry users to begin with. BBM Channels allow users to create interest specific channels and share content with users globally. For instance anyone with interest for instrumental music can open up a channel and share interesting content with the followers. In turn followers would be free to comment and interact on topics while being a part of the channel making it an interactive social platform all together. Channel owners can post messages, share pictures, spark discussions, post animated GIFs and chat directly with subscribers. BBM Channel’s integrated live chat allows channel owners to offer “scheduled chat hours” where BBM users can directly engage with their favorite channels.
BBM Channels allows a certain degree of control for the channel owners as well. They can either choose to keep the discussions open or can also moderate it to control the quality of the content and comments being posted. In terms of flexibility BBM Channels allow users to post content with the use of their mobile device or through a web browser. And even while the user is on the move they can keep a tab on their content with BBM’s deep integration with channels.
To begin things with BBM Channels beta has been made available to BlackBerry users initially but the company will gradually extend the service to Android and iOS platforms as well. The Beta application would be integrated with the BBM messenger and users can get the same by upgrading their BBM application on BlackBerry devices running OS version 5, 7.01, and OS 10.
BBM Channels is a noble idea of creating an interactive platform and with the BBM Application being used by several smartphone users globally it would offer them an additional way of interacting with users having similar interests.
