Dell is secretly working on a new Android OS running 8inch tablet dubbed as Dell Venue 8, which has been spotted on WiFi Alliance’s website with the information of the specifications of the device. Dell has been missing from the Android based tablet market since the release of Dell Streak 7 and 8inch tablets in 2010 & 2011 respectively, but now it looks like company is planning to make a strong come back in the Android tablet segment with a high-end offering.

Dell Venue 8 certification

According to the WiFi Alliance’s website, Dell Venue 8 Android tablet will be running on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system version and will be probably having an 8inch HD display. It will be launched in the market with the model number T02D001. Other connectivity features of the tablet besides WiFi support are not mentioned on the website.

Speculations based on the rumored specs of the device on web suggest it will be powered by Intel’s Bay Trail processors clocked at 1.33GHz or at 1.5GHz. Rumors suggest that it will be having a 5MP rear camera to take photos and a front facing shooter for video calling.

Dell might launch this 8inch tablet to compete against the upcoming Apple iPad Mini which is expected to launch this month and rumored to come with a 7.9inch retina display. No other details regarding Dell’s comeback tablet in the market are available at the moment but we will update you as soon as anything pops up on the web.
