Free BBM service offered by Vodafone, Airtel on BlackBerry Curve devices

With new purchase of RIM's BlackBerry Curve 9220 or Curve 9320 smartphone from Vodafone and Airtel network, users can now avail free BBM service for one year. The two service providers have announced of offering free BlackBerry Messenger service to customers who will be buying either of this device of Research in Motion (RIM) between November 9 and December 9 this year.

The BlackBerry Curve 9220 and Curve 9320 smartphones have been popular in the Indian market, mostly among the youths. The BBM on these two phones come by default and both the devices are considered among the best communication handsets.

The offer comes from RIM bundled with the two telcos for the benefit of potential customers of the two phones. The one year free BBM service starts from the date of activation of the subscription from either Vodafone or Airtel.

In the Vodafone network the activation is done automatically within 48 hours after the SIM is avtivated. For the Airtel customers a text message is to be sent for activation of the free BlackBerry Messenger service. The text message is to be "BBM" and sent to 543210.

The specs of both the phones are similar. The two runs on 7.1 OS and sports 2.44-inch display. Both are equipped with 512MB of RAM and 512MB or ROM.

BlackBerry Curve 9220 is priced tagged Rs 11,299 and the BlackBerry Curve will cost Rs 15,500.

Airtel is already selling the Curve 9220 at a discount for Rs 10,990.
