|June 7 2013 |applications

Google Keyboard, which was limited only to Nexus users, is now available for download on Google Play store. The company announced to launch the keyboard app through its Social Network website, Google Plus.

google-keyboardThe best thing here is that the Google keyboard supports Gesture based typing, a service which is offered only in paid keyboard apps. Other features include word prediction, error correction, voice typing etc. Furthermore, it features dictionaries for 26 languages. Since Google Keyboard is free, bad time starts for similar paid apps (e.g. Swiftkey, SlideIT etc).

Google has rolled out the keyboard app only for the mobiles running Android 4.0 and above. As of now its available only in English speaking countries but Google mentions to add more countries very soon. If you are in India, the app will show incompatible with your phone. So the best option is to side-load by downloading the apk if you can’t wait till official release. search on Google for “Google Keyboard apk”, and you will find one easily.
