|November 2 2013 |Mobiles

Huawei has announced the launch of a new Windows Phone 8 OS powered smartphone dubbed as Huawei Ascend W2. The phone will be available in Europe, Russia and Netherlands this month. It is the successor to company’s previous Windows smartphone, the Huawei Ascend W1. Price of the phone is not yet unveiled by the company and it will be a carrier dependent device in many markets. It is also expected to arrive in India by the end of 2013, after rolling out in the major markets.

Features wise, Huawei Ascend W2 offers a 4.3inch IPS LCD display with the resolution of 480*800 pixels and 217 pixels per inch density. Its display is also powered by super sensitive touch technology, so you can use it even while wearing gloves. It is powered by a 1.4GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8230 chipset along with 512MB of RAM and Adreno 305 graphics processor.

The phone comes in several color options – black, blue, yellow and red. It comes with 8GB of internal storage which is not further expandable. It comes with a 5MP rear camera which can shoot 720p quality videos. Connectivity wise, it offers WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and microUSB 2.0. It is powered by a decent 1700mAh battery.

Specs of the new Huawei Windows powered smartphone are not good enough comparing to the Nokia Lumia devices. So, it looks like Huawei is going to try and tempt the consumers in other ways – most likely attractive pricing.
