Jolla smartphone powered by Sailfish OS officially launched for 399 Euros

Jolla, the Finnish smartphone startup has officially launched its first smartphone Jolla, powered by the Sailfish OS for 399 Euros. Jolla is the team of the ex-Nokia engineers and the phone Jolla is the first device powered by the Sailfish operating system.


"The launch does not mark the end to product development, it goes on in cooperation with the consumers. There's different opportunities for people to get apps form different places, different stores. We are ramping up our Jolla community right now. There's already a Sailfish website so that developers can come and contribute.” Company’s officials commented on the launch.

Jolla smartphone offers a decent 4.5 inch touch display with the resolution of 960*540 pixels. The phone comes with 16 GB of internal storage which is further expendable via microSD card slot but exact maximum capacity is not yet shared by the company. Processor powering the phone is 1.4 GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon, which is further supported by 1 GB of RAM.

For imaging the smartphone offers an 8 MP auto-focus rear camera along with LED flash support and it also comes with a 2 MP front facing shooter too. Company has fueled the phone with a decent 2100 mAh battery.

The phone will first start selling in the Finland and then it will be rolled out to 135 other countries. The Jolla smartphone comes with interchangeable back covers and will also feature Nokia Here maps covering 180 countries routes.
