Lava Etab Connect 3G Calling Tablet First Impression

India bred handset manufacturer Lava has unveiled out its new Android powered voice calling tablet named as the Etab Connect with an affordable price tag of Rs. 9,499.

This latest tablet was launched in the Indian market as part of the company's ‘Blockbuster Phone day’ launch scheme that announces one device every Friday, imitating the Indian film industry’s release of latest films on Friday’s.

The 3G voice calling tablet comes braced with a 7 inch WVGA display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution and is powered by a 1GHz single core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The tab has 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal memory storage. The device features a 2Megapixel rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera for video chat.

This tablet is the first SIM-based tablets from Lava that would run on Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. It also comes with pre-installed apps like Hungama, BigFlix, Edukart, and Readwhere, etc and draws power from a 3,000 mAh battery.

Lava has entered into a partnership with Meritnation.com and Mr. Pavan Chauhan, MD & Co-founder Meritnation.com said that the companies see tablets as a big game changer. Besides portability, tablets provide options to stay connected all times irrespective of electricity supply, which is a huge concern to keep the desktop computers operational.

Lava Etab Connect is the newbie of India’s budget tablet market. India’s tablet market is a very fast growing and competitive market that has been primarily dominated by the South Korean technological behemoth Samsung with a 25.1 percent market share that is followed by Micromax with 14.3 percent and Apple with 9.1 percent market share. According to reports, the latest Phablets are growing in popularity in the tablet market, and is expected to have dominance in the market in the coming years, owing to their functionality as a hybrid between a tablet and a phone.
