Indian smartphone manufacturer, Lava International ventured into manufacturing Android operating system based tablets with the Lava Etab Xtron at the beginning of this year. The tablet was hugely successful in the market. Now, the company is all set to launch the next edition of the Etab series in the coming week.
The yet-to-be-named tablet is expected to have a 7-inch VGA touchscreen with a 1GHz dual core Qualcomm processor with 512MB of RAM. The device is said to have the Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich operating system, which can be a dampener with Android 4.1 Jellybean operating system 7 inch devices present in the market.
In fact, even the Etab Xtron has the Jellybean OS. Event the Chinese manufacturer, Zync is all set to launch the Zync Dual 7.0,which has Android 4.1 Jellybean and dual SIM facility at price of Rs. 5,990. There are also devices such as the Salora Protab HD and the Asus MeMO Pad that are offered in the same league with better features.
The device will have 3G connectivity option along with 3G voice and video calling facility and via SIM card. The device will have 4GB internal memory which will be expandable. It has a 2MP rear camera and a VGA front camera and will run on a 3000mAh battery.
Preloaded apps on this device include BigFlix, Edukart, Meritnation, Diamond Comics, and Readwhere.
The 7-inch tablet segment is witnessing some great competition. The demand for 7-inch tablets is also quite high. If the new Lava Etab tablet has to survive in this market it has to come with either a really competitive price or some more competitive features.
