Legendary Steve Jobs Resigns as Apple CEO

|August 25 2011 |Industry News, Apple iPad

The Legendary icon of the technology world Steve Jobs has announced that he would be stepping down as CEO of the Apple. Steve has been struggling from cancer and other multitude of health problems. It was speculated widely that he may not be take the reigns back as CEO of Apple again. Today, he confirmed that he is stepping down as CEO of Apple. Here's the letter he wrote to Apple board:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple's brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Apple may not be the same without Steve Jobs. The stage may lack the charm and charisma whenever apple announces the new product line ups. Steve Jobs would definitely be missed. However, one can take heart from the fact that he will continue to contribute in whatever capacity he can to the Apple board. Tim Cook will take charge as the new CEO of Apple! We salute you Mr. Steve Jobs. You are truly an icon.
