LG announces thinnest 1080p LCD panel for smartphones

LG has announced world’s thinnest 1080p LCD display panel for the smartphones. It is a full HD 5.2inch display panel with super thin bezel and company is expected to use it in the upcoming smartphone LG Optimus G2. It is only 2.2mm thin in size and going to enhance the overall media experience in the mobile devices with better colors. According to the company the new display also uses the One Glass Solution technology that provides better touch screen experience on the smartphones.

Main features of this display include 1080*1920 pixels resolution consisting Red, Green and Blue sub pixels. It will provide the maximum 535 nits brightness in the smartphones. LG says that the new panel will make smart devices lighter in weight and easier to grip. Even though it is a LCD panel but still it will provide much better visibility under the sun light.

This thinnest display panel uses LG’s advanced OGS technology with flexible circuits inserted between the main panel and the touch film. A direct bonding system is also used in the display with optical clear resin fitted between the LCD panel & film to provide maximum brightness.

LG is expected to launch its latest smartphone the LG Optimus G2 in New York on August 7 and speculations suggest it will be featuring 5.2inch display with super thin bezel. Overall, the latest LCD display panel from LG is going to allow the smartphone manufacturers to come up with thinner and much lighter smart devices.
