LinkedIn working to purchase Pulse News app

LinkedIn is on the coverage to purchase popular news aggregator app called Pulse News. According to AllThingsD, LinkedIn is keen on purchasing the app which is estimated to be between $50 and $100 million. It was also announced that LinkedIn the popular app to chat with professionals and friends will compete with other biggies of Yahoo and Microsoft through Pulse. Microsoft earlier partnered with Pulse on a different platform of mobile web app, and hence LinkedIn will have to compete with arch rival of Microsoft as well.

According to information from AllThingsD, there are a host of other companies keen to grab hold of Pulse such as Facebook, Gannett and Amazon. It is quite out of the weather that Facebook and Amazon will obtain Pulse.

The report said that sources claim that the deal was almost complete and would be unveiled this week, even though there is ample time for closure of the deal. For those interested in imbibing information of Pulse app, the Pulse is a popular news reading app that directly competes with Flipboard and Summly. This app displays news from a range of sources such as BBC, the New Yorker, TMZ and NBC News.

The app has a strong viewership of 20 million readers who cruise through over 10 million stories per day which is the main initiative of Pulse to the public. LinkedIn not only covers the large user base, but other segments of news which the app covers.

The Pulse app was introduced in San Francisco-based Alphonso labs which have raised heavy revenues from Redpoint Ventures, Greycroft Partners, Mayfield Fund, Lightspeed Investment Partners, New Enterprise Associates and Lerer Ventures.

Pulse is an impressive app not only for news but also personalised social feeds from popular sites such as YouTube, Tumblr, Facebook and Instagram. Pulse earlier rolled out top social information from Instagram, YouTube, Readability and Reddit.

LinkedIn has been an eminent social site to chat with friends and browse through information on the latest jobs available. The purchase of Pulse by LinkedIn will further enhance the admirable qualities of this app to also scout through news in India and world over.
