Micromax’s super seller flagship device for 2013, the A116 Canvas HD is facing supply issues and price revision.
Customers who placed an order for the device recently, will have to wait a little longer as the company is facing some “procedural issues” due to which, the product shipment has been postponed by 10 days.
The price of the device has been raised by Rs. 1000, to Rs. 14,499, due to the rise in excise duty on smartphones that was announced last month. However, Micromax is giving a free case worth RS.799 to its customers who had preordered the device as a token of gratitude. Apart from this, the company is also giving a full refund to customers who have cancelled their order out of dissatisfaction due to the delay.
Micromax’s official statement on it website gives an explanation for the move as, “The proposed Finance Bill announced by the honorable Finance Minister of India on 28th Feb 2013 has made certain changes in the customs duty structure on all Mobile Phones with MRP greater than Rs. 2000/-. Because of this and other procedural issues, the shipment of your Canvas HD has been delayed by 10 working days. Along with the delay, the price of Canvas HD has also been revised to Rs. 14,499.”
The Canvas HD’s key specifications include a 5-inch IPS HD display with 1.2GHz quad core processor with 1GB RAM. It is a dual SIM device with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. It has 4GB internal memory, 8MP rear camera and a 2100mAH battery to run on.
The Canvas HD had become immensely popular at the time of its launch being sold out within a day of its launch and setting a record of selling 25 devices per minute.
