Micromax Canvas is well known and established smartphone series of India. Micromax’s smart scheme of offering decent specifications at a reasonable price always results in making its devices first choice for smartphone lovers.
Micromax Canvas 4 A210 is the newest member of the family and as per the claims, best too. It is successor of Micromax Canvas HD A116 and poses a lot of features inspired by the predecessor followed by some of its own too.
Let us have a sneak peek and find out whether the device really deserves to be called much awaited Smartphone of the year and deserves to be your next smartphone or not.
The new addition to flagship family, Micromax Canvas 4 poses a 5.0 inch HD IPS display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. It came as a disappointment as it was assumed to feature a 1080p Full HD display. There’s no improvement over predecessor here and this could be a deal-breaker not only for the potential consumers but also for the buyers who have already pre-booked the device.
Micromax Canvas 4 also poses an aluminium cover worth Rs 3000/-, especially designed for the device to give it a classy and elite look.
Processor and OS:
Micromax Canvas 4 has been given a 1.2GHz MediaTek MT6589 quad-core processor which is again same as of Canvas HD along with 1GB RAM. Here again the so called much awaited smartphone failed to impress the spectators. The speed and performance of the device is going to be same as of its predecessor.
The device is loaded with Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean OS. Micromax has loaded the UI with Samsung Galaxy S4 like features e.g. sliding video, take the phone to ear to receive a call etc.
The most bizarre feature is Blow to unlock, which enables you to blow over the device as if you are going to kiss it and the device will get unlocked.
Inspired by S4, the device flaunts a Touchwiz like feature which makes the screen sleep automatically when you get your eyes away from it. Another feature borrowed from Galaxy S4 is when talking over the device just turn it back and it will switch on the speaker automatically.
In addition to significantly upgraded camera these features could be a strong reason to pay a premium for this phone over Canvas HD A116.
The Canvas 4 has a 13 MP rear camera with dual LED Flash, Autofocus, Face detection, Geo tagging, Auto Flash, Continuous (Burst) mode, Smile detection, Photo Solid, High Dynamic Range Synthesis, 4 direction Panorama, Effects Library etc. The device also sports a 5MP front camera to enable users getting best in terms of Video calling. Here Canvas 4 turns the table and wins the hearts of its spectators with its amazing cameras.
Micromax decided to give its users unlimited space for data by giving 16GB inbuilt storage expandable to 32GB via microSD card in the device in order to let its users have ample wide space for data and made the device heartthrob of tech addicts.
Connectivity and battery:
On connectivity front the device poses all features a smartphone is expected to carry. Be it Bluetooth v4.0, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Hotspot, 3G etc. Like its predecessor, the device gets full marks in terms of connectivity.
Another feature Canvas 4 inherited from its predecessor is the 2000mAh battery which will hardly enable it to work for the whole day on a single charge.
Micromax Canvas 4 A210 was expected to be rolled out as an significant upgrade over the Micromax Canvas HD A116 and that was the main reason behind all these hype. At least a fullHD display was obviously expected.
Micromax has launched this device for a price tag of Rs 17999 which means you need to shell out almost 5K more than its predecessor for an upgraded camera and some bizarre features.
If you want to buy it for the sake of upgrading from the Canvas HD, we really can’t recommend. Its better to give a try to some other devices which offer better specifications at the same price e.g. Karbonn Titanium S9.
If its going to be your first high-end smartphone, it certainly sounds like a good deal as getting similar device from international brands like Samsung, HTC etc might cost you a lot more. You can wait for some price drop though.
Smartphones have become a necessity in today's digital age. Be it browsing the web or connecting with you...
