In addition to a massive 4,000mAh battery, the Canvas Power also comes with a large 5-inch display and a quad-core CPU.

Micromax Canvas Power A96, which was earlier roaming in RumourLand, is now available to buy online. Micromax has officially started selling the smartphone on its online store for Rs 9,900. As the name suggests, the USP of the Canvas Power is the massive 4,000mAh battery under the hood that delivers 450 hours of standby time on 3G networks.

Talking about other specs, the Micromax Canvas Power A96 comes with a 5-inch capacitive IPS display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The processor ticking under the hood is a quad-core MediaTek MT6582, clocked at 1.3GHz, further supported by 512MB of RAM.

Connectivity-wise, the Canvas Power offers dual-SIM (GSM+GSM), 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. There is 4GB of internal storage, plus a microSD card slot to expand it further up to 32GB. For imaging, it sports a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and HD video recording, and a VGA front-facing shooter as well.

The Micromax Canvas Power A96 will be competing against the recently-introduced Gionee M2 that offers a 4,200mAh battery and is priced at Rs 11,123. We already have the Lenovo P780 in the market with a 4,000mAh battery available for Rs 17,999. In addition to the Canvas Power, Micromax has also released an entry level smartphone, the Micromax Bolt A068 for Rs 7,108.
