Micromax launches HookUp - free text, chat, share service

Micromax launched today HookUp, a free messaging service for Android phones. It allows messaging, and exchanging of videos, pictures and music. Currently the carrier has put a cap of 330 free messages a month for first year. The messages can also be sent to non-HookUp users.


HookUp is integrated with the SMS application allowing messages to be delivered in the unified inbox and not to make it access via different application. The added features of HookUp also includes location sharing, Walkie-Talkie and doodle pad.

According to Micromax, the HookUp messaging service consumes less battery, less memory, less data and also less bandwidth with faster push speed.

The other common features of HookUp is contact list management and group chat. In the contact management feature users can send invites to their new contacts and also opt for keeping a contact away.

Activation is required to start with the service. The activation is free of any charges. To activate user need to tap on the activation icon and then submit the phone number in the given field along with a user name.

After the service is activated, user can receive notifications and also can be able to view, manage and search files and messages. To access HookUp a GPRS connection is necessary.

The smartphones supporting HookUp now are A57 Ninja 3.5, A87 Ninja 4.0, Q34, A25 Smarty, and X335.
