Micromax launches Smarty A68 for Rs 6500, lacks 3G

December 14 2012 By Ashwini Sah|Mobiles

Adding one more to its portfolio of budget Android smart phones Micromax has launched Micromax A68 Smarty. This is the second phone in the Smarty series of Micromax after MIcromax Smarty A25. Now Micromax is promoting two different series of Android phones. Ninja series for Affordable smart phones with 3G and the Smarty series for Android phones without 3G.

Micromax A68 smarty is a dual SIM Android phone sporting a 4 inch capacitive display which is surprisingly IPS (in plane switching) facilitating better graphics rendering and wider viewing angles. It is loaded with Android 4.0 ICS and powered by 1 GHz MediaTek MT6515 processor and 512MB Ram. On the rear, it packs 5MP camera with LED flash for photography. There is no front camera for video calling which is obvious as the phone lacks 3G functionality as well. It is fueled by a 1600 mAH battery which promises a standby time of 144hrs and talk time of 5hrs.

Micromax Smarty A68 is selling with a couple of online resellers for a price of around Rs 6500 which seems on a higher side considering the lack of 3G which is a major letdown. Rather we would recommend Karbonn A15 which doesn’t feature IPS but is available for Rs 5899 and comes with 3G functionality.

Micromax A68 smarty key specifications:

  • Dual SIM
  • 4.0 inch IPS Capacitive touch screen
  • Android 4.0
  • 1GHz processor, 512MB Ram
  • 2GB inbuilt storage, expandable
  • 1600 mAH battery

Shortcomings:

  • No 3G
  • No front camera
