Mobile Bazaar from Airtel

|April 7 2010 |Mobile Apps, Industry News, Mobile Operators

Bharti Airtel, which recently launched India's first mobile app store has just clocked over 3 million app downloads! That's a very encouraging sign for mobile operators and mobile apps!

Buoyed by this success, Airtel launched a sms-based market place for buyers and sellers to connect with each other. An innovative mobile application called "Mobile Bazaar" allows mobile subscribers to buy and sell through SMS without requiring an internet connection! The app would initially focus on one segment "Mobile handsets" and will gradually expand to other segments/verticals such as real estate, autos, electronics etc.,

With Mobile tariffs and ARPU falling to all-time low and with competition increasing by the day, mobile operators are left to find new avenues for revenues! Mobile apps may well turn out to be the lucky pot!
