The New Year brought with it an array of smartphones that were launched across almost all segments. While Lenovo launched the much anticipated successor to its K3 Note, we also saw BlackBerry’s attempt at resurgence with its first Android-based smartphone. Moreover, there were quite a few fireworks in the entry-level and budget segment with many new launches and updates. Blackberry unveiled its first ever Android smartphone in India. The key features of the smartphone include a slide-out QWERTY keypad, and a 5.4-inch AMOLED display with 2K resolution. The Snapdragon 808-powered smartphone comes equipped with 3GB RAM and packs in many security features built in by the company. There is also an 18MP rear camera with dual LED flash. The phone is priced at Rs 62,990 and is available at Amazon India.
Announced in December, the Marathon M5 Lite was launched featuring a 5-inch HD display. Under the hood, it is powered by a MediaTek MT6735 processor with 3GB RAM. The dual-SIM device runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and sports a massive 4000mAh battery. There is 32GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot.
OnePlus finally unveiled the 16GB edition of its OnePlus 2 smartphone. It features the same 5.5-inch full HD display and Snapdragon 810 processor. The RAM though, has come down to 3GB. OnePlus offers various back replacement StyleSwap covers including Kevlar and Bamboo. It is priced at Rs 22,999 and is available exclusively via Amazon India.
ASUS launched its ZenFone Zoom smartphone in January. The camera-centric phone includes a 13MP rear camera featuring 3x optical zoom and OIS technology. Its specs include a 5.5-inch full HD display, and a quad-core Intel Atom Z3590 processor with 4GB RAM. There is 128GB of internal memory with room for more using a microSD card.
OPPO’s new addition, the OPPO F1 features a metal design that measures just 7.2mm thick. The 5-incher sports HD screen resolution and is powered by a Snapdragon 616 processor with 3GB RAM. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. The USP of the device is its 13MP rear camera with a CMOS image sensor, plus tons of features aimed towards enhancing selfies.
The Vibe X3 was launched with a 5.5-inch full HD display and dual front mounted speakers. A 21MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera along with the Snapdragon 808 processor mark the key highlights of the smartphone. Priced at Rs 19,999, the Vibe X3 is sold exclusively via Amazon India.
Coolpad released the most affordable smartphone to feature a fingerprint scanner in the form of the Note 3 Lite. Priced at Rs 6,999, it sports a MediaTek MT6753 processor with 3GB RAM. The gold accents around the white plastic body give it a strikingly unique look. Featuring a 5-inch HD display, it is a compact device. The company has chosen Amazon as the exclusive seller for this phone.
Lenovo also unveiled the A7000 Turbo featuring an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor and 2GB RAM. The 5.5-inch 1080p display and the 13MP rear camera are the key features of the handset. Colour options include the customary white and black variants.
The much awaited K4 Note entered the market this January. The highlights of the phone are dual front-mounted Dolby Atmos Speakers and a fingerprint scanner. Powered by a MediaTek MT6753 processor, the K4 Note gets 3GB of RAM for better multitasking. There’s also a VR bundle offer available on Amazon, the exclusive partner for sales.
ASUS launched the ZenFone Max smartphone owing to the success of its ZenFone series. Beneath the 5.5-inch HD display, it houses the Snapdragon 410 processor and 2GB RAM. The highlight of the device is its massive 5,000mAh battery enclosed in a 5.2mm thin body. The ZenFone Max is available in black and white colour variants and is priced at Rs 9,999.
