As per the recent reports, Smartphones have started out-shipping the feature phones. But that doesn't mean feature phones are out of the scene. Still a lot of pre generation and non tech savvy people like to go for feature phones because of the simplicity it offers. And Nokia is still a leading brand when it comes to feature phones.
Time to time, Nokia keeps launching feature phones reminding its customers that company has not forgotten its real fan base in the wave of smartphone war. Better, Nokia is not just maintaining its feature phone portfolio but also improving the quality of these phones by integrating more and more innovative features in it. Asha series is a great example of this.
The latest offering from Nokia is also a great example of innovation in feature phone segment. Its latest announcement, Nokia 515 is a feature phone which directly hits smartphones in terms of build and design.
Nokia 515 sports is a bar phone featuring a 2.4 inch QVGA display with a resolution of 240x320 pixels and a pixel density of 166ppi protected with Gorilla Glass 2. Nokia has integrated a 5 Mega Pixel camera with features like voice controlled self portraits, Panorama and sequential shots. It runs on Series 40 OS and is powered by 64MB Ram. Connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, EDGE etc. Nokia 515 supports Micro SIM which is now getting popular in smartphones.
Nokia is also pitching this phone as a companion to smartphones as Nokia is providing tools to import contacts from Windows or Android phones.
Once reaching the market, Nokia 515 would serve as a great option for people who want to grab a costly phone but don’t want to fall into the complexities of a smart operating system. We assume it be priced around 10k in India.
