In addition to Nokia Asha 502 and 3G enabled Nokia Asha 503, company has also introduced Nokia Asha 500 budget smartphone in Abu Dhabi today. These devices are some of the last products the Finnish maker developed before it decided to sell its handset business to Microsoft. Nokia Asha 500 is targeted to the entry level consumer segment looking for decent smartphone experience in affordable prices.

Nokia Asha 500 comes in single and dual SIM variants. It offers a 2.8-inch display with a resolution of 320x240 pixels. The capacitive display features tactile feedback, low power mode, screen double tap and Nokia glance screen. Nokia Asha 500 runs on the Nokia Asha software platform version 1.1.1 with improved user interface. The firmware is further upgradable via FOTA (firmware over the air).

It houses an external memory card slot to expand memory up to 32GB. While the phone comes with Micro SIM slot, connectivity wise it offers Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi and USB 2.0. Nokia has pre-loaded this budget phone with personal information management features like digital clock, recorder, social networks in phonebook as well as fixed dialing number. On the camera front, it comes with a mere 2MP fixed focus camera which could be a deal breaker for some.

Nokia Asha 500 is powered by a decent 1200mAh battery. Priced at $69, the phone will soon be launched in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and Middle East.
