NVIDIA white label tablets and smartphones

|January 31 2013 |Tablets, Android Tablets

The world of smart phones and tablets has seen a lot of change in the recent past.  Lots of smaller players have entered the market offering devices with attractive features at considerably lower prices. Although these devices are very affordable, they are still far behind when compared to the devices offered by the bigger players in the market.  They cannot match the bigger brands in terms of quality.

NVIDIA, one of the big names in the market, is planning on introducing a tablet which falls well within the budget of buyers, thereby offering quality along with affordability.  We see a lot of small time manufacturers offering devices which may not be heard of outside their very own county.  As a result of this, the brand is not known to the buyers. For example, the Wexler TAB 7t tablet which is not known to the buyers outside Russia.  This tablet offers features and specs similar to that of the Nexus 7 but it goes unnoticed mainly because the buyer has no knowledge of its existence.

This tablet comes with a 7 inch (1280X800) TFT IPS display, 1.3 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and 1 GB of Ram which is similar to the specs of the Nexus 7. This tablet also has 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. Although it comes with only a VGA quality front-facing camera as compared to the Nexus 7 which has a 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera, it makes up for this by offering a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera with auto focus. It also comes with a 4500 mAh battery, HDMI out and microUSB.

Although the Nexus has some of these specs and features missing, it still offers better services in terms of updates. The updates are much faster on the Nexus compared to the other devices.  The main problem faced by smaller manufacturers is that they find it hard to match the quality offered by the bigger competitors. With the help of NVIDIA, these smaller manufactures will be able to offer better quality devices and overcome competition such as the Nexus 7.

NVIDIA will help in providing a market for devices offered by smaller manufacturers by determining the specs and features of the device and selling them at affordable prices. They will of course rebrand them and sell them under their own brand name. Buyers often choose a product depending upon the popularity of the brand and when a big player like NVIDIA associates itself with a product, the end result will be good. The buyers will benefit from this move the most mainly because this will start a trend of affordable tablets with a lot of attractive features and specs.
