Refreshed Dell Latitude 10 Windows 8 tablet at MWC 2013

|February 27 2013 |Tablets

Dell seems to be pretty happy with its Latitude 10 Windows 8 tablet and is content offering new and refreshed variants of the same device. The company had launched a pocket friendly Essentials version of the tablet and at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013, it is releasing the slate’s enhanced security configuration.

The major additions include a fingerprint reader as well as an integrated smart card reader. These features help Dell to flaunt the Latitude 10 enhanced security edition even further as the only dual-authentication Windows 8 tablet in the market. Dell’s Data Protection Access suite also integrates with those authentication methods of Latitude 10 and the device shows off a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2 hardware, Microsoft BitLocker Drive Encryption, and Computrace tracking system.

The good old hardware remains same that includes an Intel Atom Z2760 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 10.1-inch Gorilla Glass screen and a 64GB solid-state storage. But the enhanced protection doesn’t come without an enhanced price. This new edition comes with a pocket pinch of $779, and $200 more if you choose to go beyond the base 64GB version.

Dell is rather confident that enterprises will pay extra as part of their tablet deployment, and the company has also recently released the findings from a study about the introduction of tablets into the healthcare system that the company had started jointly with Intel. The research that was conducted by Harris Interactive through online interviews with healthcare IT execs, showed that deploying Latitude 10 tablets rather than iPads was up to 17 times faster and 94 percent less costly. Moreover, the usage of Latitude 10 tablets would prove to be up to 85 percent less expensive to maintain over a three years of time period.

Thus, Dell is really pushing the Latitude 10 tablet to its consumers in the guise of enhanced benefits from new and innovative features that actually work in the modern tech-savvy life.
