BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion (RIM) has appointed Sunil Dutt as its new managing director for India operations. He takes charge from Frenny Bawa, who had quit the company last month. Until recently, Dutt worked for Hewlett Packard India Sales Pte Ltd as president, personal systems group and was responsible for expanding the company's business in the enterprise, mid-market and consumer segments.
"Sunil Dutt brings a wealth of experience to RIM. His strong managerial and communication skills, as well as an institutional understanding of the technology and telecom sector will be instrumental in driving the next stage of our business's growth in India," said Urpo Karjalainen, senior vice president, APAC, Research In Motion.
He is an industry veteran with 27 years of extensive experience in the Indian mobile technology and telecom sector, RIM said in its statement. Dutt has also worked in senior positions for companies like Samsung India Electronics Ltd , Nokia India Pte Ltd, Whirlpool of India Ltd, Wipro Limited and Philips India.
