RIM renames store to BlackBerry World

December 1 2012 By sunil|Blackberry

The word 'app' has been dropped from RIMs store. Formerly named as BlackBerry App World, now it is dubbed as BlackBerry World only. This reflects the store will be something more than apps offering. Users can now also buy music, movies and TV shows.

At its BlackBerry Jam Asia developers event in Bangkok, Research in Motion announced the rename of its app store yesterday.

Don't get confused with the annual developer event of RIM bearing the same name.

Earlier, Google also followed the same path and renamed its Android Market store to Google Play as it reflected outdated system.

RIM also unveiled yesterday a new device-based on BlackBerry 10 for developers to test their apps on the new software. The phone is equipped with the usual Qwerty keyboard. BlackBerry 10 will be arriving this new year and it will debut with two phones, one with physical keyboard and the other with just touchscreen keypad.
