Rumor: Asus to launch Intel Powered FonePad Tab at MWC

Asus is rumored to launch an Intel Processor powered FonePad at upcoming Mobile World Congress 2013, scheduled to hit the floors at Barcelona, Spain.


According to the reports, this FonePad Tab will sport a 7 inch 1208 x 800 IPS touch screen which will be powered by Intel's 1.2GHz Atom Z2420 Processor supported by 1 GB of RAM. This Tablet is reported to run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.

Asus FonePad will be packed inside an aluminum body. It will house a 3 Megapixel Camera and for storage needs, it will boast 16GB of internal storage capacity.

For connectivity, It supports 3G Network, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and other standard options. This Tab will be fuelled by 4,270mAH battery which promises to run 9.5 hours on the go.

Asus FonePad Tablet is reported to carry a price tag around $271 to $305 and will shipped in the second quarter of ongoing 2013.

Asus also manufactures the much famous Google Nexus 7, which also sports 7 inch IPS Display and is powered by 1.3Ghz NVIDIA Tegra 3 Processor. This Tab runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Operating System.

The closest competitor of Asus FonePad will be Google Nexus 7 as it is also available in the market with a price tag of $199. It will be interesting to see that at which price, Asus will launch this tab and whether this Intel powered tab can have a bigger share in 7 inch Tablet market.
