Rumor: Samsung working on a 5.9 inch phablet

Samsung is all set to launch its flagship device for 2013, the Galaxy S IV, at a special event this month, surrounded by insurmountable hype. Now, we hear that the company has started working on a new 5.9 inch phablet, which tech experts are guessing might be the next edition of the Galaxy Note 2.

Nothing much is revealed, but the Korean Times suggests that the new device, which is to be released this year, might be a Galaxy Note 3.

In 2012, there had been rumors that suggested the launch of 6.3 inch phablet to beat Huawei’s Ascend Mate which has a 6.1 inch screen. However, going by its history, the Galaxy Note series took off with a 5.3 inch display on the first edition, followed by a 5.5 inch Galaxy Note 2, and it would only be logical for the next edition to have a 5.9 inch screen rather than take a giant 6.3 inch leap.

Rumors and speculations about the Note 3 by experts suggests a full HD display and a 200 MHz Exynos 5 Octa core processor. The Galaxy S4 comes with a full HD display, and so do most of its competitors in the market like the HTC One, Sony Xperia Z and the Nokia Lumia 920.

Of course, all the latest connectivity features are expected on the Note 3 including 4G LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot and Bluetooth. The important addition to look forward to will of course be the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie OS which will enter the markets in May this year.

The Note series is a hugely successful venture for Samsung, but it is best to wait and see what further developments will take place.
