The device comes inside a brown box that is constructed using recycled materials and lists the detailed hardware specifications at the back. Opening the box reveals the device in all its glory, sitting on top. Removing the phone reveals a cardboard partition, which houses the user manual and other documentation along with accessories in form of a USB/charging cable, a standard AC adapter, battery and a stereo headset. The Salora Z3 comes just the bare essentials, and for protective cases users will have to hunt the market to find compatible ones until official accessories hit the stores.
The handset offers a plush finish, with metallic finish edges on all sides along with laser-cut metallic keys. The front of the phone features a bold look, ensured with the use of three feather touch keys located towards the bottom. The device has been made available in a single black variant only. The back panel features a matte finish, which will help the device avoid scratches and fade marks. In addition, the back panel caries embossed branding that offers a premium look as well. In terms of overall weight, the device feels fine and all thanks to its slim bezels, it should be comfortable for single handed use as well.
While the world is moving towards 5.5-inch and even larger displays, Salora has decided to offer a 5-inch screen, which offers a good balance between size and usability. The display sports 1,280 x 720 pixel resolution on an OGS based solution promising better viewing angles and colour reproduction. The build quality seems good, although the device has been constructed entirely with the use of high-density polycarbonate plastics.
Apart from the capacitive backlit keys on the front, the phone features the usual volume rocker key on the left and the power key on the right. On top lies the micro-USB port, which shares the spot with the 3.5mm audio connector as well while the bottom side has been left untouched.
