Samsung "Bada" - A new mobile platform to India

Samsung bada - A smartphone platform released in India today. The ‘bada’ platform was launched at the ‘Global Developer Day’ organized in Bangalore today by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a leading mobile phone provider.

The word 'bada' means "ocean" in Korean. Samsung Wave is the first bada-powered phone and will be seen on the market soon. This is an open platform that enables the user to experience in rich applications on samsung mobile devices including motion sensing, fine-tuned vibration control, and face detection and many more.

Commenting on the occasion, J S Shin, President& CEO of Samsung South West Asia , “Consumers no longer see mobile phones as devices for voice communications. Instead, they relate to their mobiles as communication hubs – as personal gateways to communicate with their peers and the world at large. This is the era of Smart phones and in the new Smartphone era, we are committed to making Smartphones available for everyone. Samsung ‘bada’, our new mobile platform is the key driver of our global smartphone strategy. I see the launch of Samsung bada as a powerful opportunity for developers all over the world, especially the vibrant Indian developer community renowned the world over, to get their applications onto an unprecedented number of Samsung devices worldwide”.

Co-op with the launch event, developers are invited to participate in the grand "Samsung Bada Developer Challenge" to build a wide variety of applications for 'bada' devices. The developers have a chance to win the grand (1st) prize of US$300,000.
