Samsung Galaxy S i9003 price in india

February 28 2011 By Bharani|Android Phones, Product Launch, Samsung

Samsung Mobiles is launching its next smartphone i9003 Galaxy S in India very soon. Some leading ecommerce portals have already placed a pre-order page for the phone. Flipkart is pricing this product @ Rs. 19,499.

Samsung-I9003-Galaxy-SL

Samsung i9003 Galaxy S has a 4.0 inch Super LCD touchscreen display with a resolution of 800x480 pixels. The display is made of Gorilla Glass. i9003 is powered by Android Froyo (v2.2), PowerVR SGX530 graphics processor, 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 Processor (Hummingbird chipset). Has dual cameras. Rear camera with 5 mega pixels resolution and auto-focus. Front-facing video calling camera has a VGA resolution. All the sensors like Accelerometer, Proximity sensor and digital compass. Powered by Samsung's own TouchWiz 3.0 User Interface. Capable of HD video recording @ 720p. Has a 1650 mAH battery that is capable of providing 610 hours of standby in 2G mode and 550 hours of standby time in 3G mode. Has all connectivy options such as Bluetooth v3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, DLNA, microUSB, 3G, A-GPS, GPRS. Comes with a in-built memory of 16GB and an expandable memory slot upto 32GB.

What's missing in Samsung Galaxy S i9003? Well, there is no camera flash. It's hard to imagine a Rs. 20,000 worth smartphone not shipping without a flash. Add to it, there is no dedicated camera button too. The phone is made of plastic. Galaxy S i9003 is touted as the successor for Galaxy S i9000. But i9003 comes with an inferior GPU compared to the original i9000. Samsung Galaxy S i9000 had a GPU of PowerVR SGX540 while i9003 has a GPU of PowerVR SGX530! Last but not the least, the original Galaxy S i9000 had an AMOLED display while i9003 comes with Super LCD. Arguably inferior than AMOLED. You might argue, the original Galaxy S i9000 was expensive at Rs. 28,000 price tag. But I am not sure if you should be buying a gadget at Rs. 20,000 with some of the obvious missing features especially on the camera side.

We guess, Samsung i9003 Galaxy S might not do as well as i9000 did. You might be better off by waiting till Samsung Galaxy S II is released!
