Sony completes the Ericsson stake buyout

Sony completed acquiring the stake held with Ericsson in the joint venture Sony Ericsson. The buyout now allows Sony to completely own Sony Mobile Communication and Sony is ready to take charge. Today, Sony started sending newsletters to subscribers stating the "Sony Ericsson is becoming part of Sony".


Sony will now manage the complete range of products including TVs, PCs, Tablets and Mobiles. Sony will dedicate their time in crafting smartphones to the concentrated market segment. According to the new strategies, the company will not enter into the feature phone market segment. However, the existing warranty will remain completely valid and users will be promised to get the same great service and support. The first smartphone product from Sony after the buyout, the new Sony Xperia™ S will be made available this Spring.
