Sony started shipping the Play-Station certified Sony Xperia S Android smartphone across the globe. Though Sony hasn't revealed the actual price, retailers at several markets started taking pre-order bookings. Local retailers will soon get the information on pricing and availability. For instance, retailers at Philippines estimated the device priced at PHP27990 (approx Rs.32950) and started taking pre-orders.
Sony Xperia S is a 4.3 inch smartphone with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution. The device comes with significant hardware specs like 1.5 Ghz dual-core Qualcomm processor, 1GB RAM and 1GB of internal storage memory. Sony Xperia S comes with multi-touch input method, scratch resistant glass and Sony Mobile Bravia Engine. The device sports an 12.1 Megapixel Auto-focus camera with LED flash with 1080p Video recording. Also, it houses an 1.3 megapixel front facing camera for video calling with 720p support. The new Sony Xperia S phone will offer 32GB of onboard storage. It include NFC along with the usual Wi-Fi and HDMI cable output. Xperia S comes in Black and White colors and the device runs on Android OS v2.3 Gingerbread. However, Sony promised to push an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update later this year.
