“The Sony Xperia Z2 Compact will also feature a 20.7MP Exmor RS camera sensor”

FCC has just certified a new Sony smartphone with model number Sony SO-04F aka 'Altair'. It is reportedly the compact edition of the Sony Xperia Z2 flagship smartphone. The model number of the phone is designated to the Japanese telecom operator NTT DoCoMo. It is believed to be an upgraded edition of the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, also known as Sony Xperia Z1 F in the Japanese market.

Earlier this year, Japanese spare parts retailer Moumantai listed what it says is the genuine back panel of the Xperia Z2 Compact. Thanks to the listing, we have a bunch of images of the rear panel of the phone. It also reveals that the Z2 Compact will sport a 20.7MP Exmor RS camera sensor with a G Lens.

According to the reports, the phone is expected to arrive with a 4.5-inch 720p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM. The phone will most likely run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. There is no information about when Sony plans to release the Xperia Z2 Compact.
