Top Android apps and games of the Week #44

|November 2 2015 |Android Phones, Android, Mobile Apps, applications, Android Tablets, Apps of the Week

The past week was quite action-packed for the hardware side of Android. We saw OnePlus’ latest offering, the X (first impressions) along with a new Chinese smartphone maker Letv aiming to make it big with its latest Le 1s (first impressions). XOLO also introduced the second device in the BLACK series dubbed 1x, that boasts 3 gigs of RAM. On software side too, we heard murmurs of Google trying to merge its Android and Chrome OS platforms. But if you’re wondering how the action was on the Play Store this week, then you’re at the right place. Here’s a selected list of apps and games that were launched or updated this week and are worth your attention.

Arrow LauncherArrow Launcher (Free)

Over the past couple of years, Microsoft has introduced a variety of apps for Android users. It’s latest is a launcher, which has exited the beta version this week. Arrow Launcher learns from user behaviour and brings up favourite apps and people along with providing reminders and the ability to find recent photos, downloads, etc. The launcher is also compatible with widgets, and thanks to Bing, you can also get a new wallpaper every day.

ReflexionReflexion (Free)

This week, OnePlus not only launched a compact flagship, but it also forayed in the world of apps. It’s first title is a cross-platform app called Reflexion, which is a photography app. It lets you capture from both your front and rear cameras, and then stitches them together to offer a unique perspective. Once done, you can also share the images via social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

VoodooVoodoo (Free)

If you’re booking a cab or buying a particular item from an ecommerce website, often times you’d be wondering whether you’re getting the best deal. Not anymore, as Voodoo aims to be your digital assistant by showing you best deals, compare prices and finding coupons for the product you’re looking for. The app works with most popular shopping and cab services such as Flipkart, Snapdeal, Ola, Uber, and Jabong, among several others.

Games

Beneath the LighthouseBeneath the Lighthouse (Free)

Beneath the Lighthouse is a puzzle game with serene graphics, wherein you’ll be helping a boy to search for his lost grandpa. During the journey, you’ll come across mysterious mechanical wheels, which you have to solve in order to reach the next level.

Dead Effect 2Dead Effect 2 (Free)

There are a ton of Zombie shooting games on the Play Store, but Dead Effect 2 tries to be different with its superb graphics and a focus on storyline. The game picks up right from where its predecessor left off – on a spaceship with undead crewmembers. You can also collect various weapons and upgrade them to kill others.

SanitariumSanitarium (Rs 296.85)

Since it's Halloween time, it makes sense to include a few horror games in our roundup. Sanitarium is a popular PC game from the 90s and now the point-and-click adventure is been relaunched for mobile devices. In the title, you’ll be playing Max, who after a car accident, ends up in a Sanitarium and doesn’t remember a thing about himself. You’ll need to help him find answers to all his questions by travelling around.

KOIKOI (Free)

KOI is another beautiful puzzle game we have for you this week, and what’s even more interesting about the title is that it doesn’t appear to be a puzzle at all. In the game, you help little Koi to unlock flowers of corresponding colours, collect puzzle pieces to learn about its previous life. You also need to be beware of snake-headed fish and naked wires in each level.

The Walking Dead No Man's LandThe Walking Dead No Man’s Land (Free)

If you love the popular TV series by the same name, then the official version of game would pique your interest too. You’ll be joining protagonist Daryl Dixon to fight against zombies. You’d also need to make tactical choices in the RPG game. The title offers impressive graphics and addictive gameplay.

Rarely does it happens that we have more games than apps, but that was the case this week, and we hope that the titles would keep you engrossed. To get another dose of new apps and games for Android devices, be sure to be back next week.
