WhatsApp’s been featuring quite frequently in our weekly apps roundup, and with good reason. With the latest update, the social messaging app has now gained end-to-end encryption across all platforms. The encryption applies to all content shared on WhatsApp, including chats, calls, photos, videos and documents. The encryption is turned on by default, so you don’t need to manually enable it.
If you’re an Office 365 user on iOS, Microsoft Garage (the company’s experimental apps project) has released a new keyboard called Hub. The keyboard lets you easily attach documents, files and contacts from your Office 365 account, and keeps a clipboard handy for you to easily paste previously copied text. It also automatically translates what you’re typing to other (supported) languages.
This by Tinrocket is an interesting photo-editing app that lets you add pointers, labels, descriptions and commentary to your photos. The app features a minimal interface, giving you just one font with a choice of two colours and three sizes. You can easily add, resize, reposition or delete pointers, choosing from a total of seven styles. Once you’re done, you can save your image or share it via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest or email.
Chameleon Run is a colourful and challenging auto-runner. In the game, you’ll have to help your character jump from platform to platform, making sure that his colour matches the platform he’s landing on. You’ll also be able to execute various moves like a double jump and head jump. Each level features three objectives that you can complete, and you’ll need to use the stars you collect to unlock later levels.
Popular endless arcade hopper Crossy Road has received a Disney-themed makeover in this new game. The game mechanics remain the same – guide your character as far as you can, while avoiding being splattered by oncoming traffic. In the new game, you’ll be able to play as and collect over 100 Disney and Pixar figurines, including Mickey, Donald, Buzz Lightyear and Rapunzel, journeying through worlds based on Al’s Barn, the Pride Lands of Africa, the Haunted Mansion and more. You’ll also need to master the challenges unique to each world, avoiding herds of wildebeest, falling barrels and blizzards, among others.
Looty Dungeon is an endless dungeon crawler with a difference. The game features grid-like gameplay and an 8-bit artwork style. You can unlock and play as tons of unique characters, each with their own special abilities. You’ll also need to collect loot, fight monsters and bosses and avoid traps.
In this beautiful surfing game, your goal is to break the record of the longest wave ever ridden. The game features a simple tap and release style, and features a range of missions where you can play as new surfers with different styles. As you attempt to ride the waves, you’ll have to watch out for dangers like crowds, wipeouts and even sharks. The game features different day and night modes, a ghost mode that’s activated by performing aerial stunts, and collectible floating chips that you can use in the surf shop.
An adorable colourful platformer, in CATTCH you play an extraordinary hero whose skills are put to the test when evil monsters invade his homeland of Cubika. You’ll need to help CATTCH fight the critters and rescue his friends, as he runs, jumps, climbs and rotates through over 50 challenging levels. The world features three themes, with illustrations that tell you of the unfolding story. You’ll also get to collect dozens of original stickers.
