TRAI intense to block Lost/ Stolen mobiles

|November 2 2010 |Industry News

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released a consultation paper on Issues relating to blocking of IMEI for lost /stolen mobile handsets in Delhi on November 2nd.

In the year 2004, there was a proposal raised as a process on this issue. With a rapid increase in mobile users and complaints registered related to stolen / lost TRAI ear-marked this proposal and re-initiated.

The mobile phone theft is a serious concern to the consumers with respect to the valuable data stored in it. In case of lost, network providers have a facility to block the sim card and new sim card can be availed to reconnect with their peers. At present, there is no system of blocking the mobile phones in case of lost or stolen.

TRAI issued a consultation paper which lights on various issues relating to blocking of mobile phones.

You can download and read the entire consultation paper.
