TRAI Pushes Marketing Calls And SMS Regulations Indefinitely

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) postponed the deadline of Marketing Calls and SMS Regulation to an Indefinite date. Wherein the early announcement has a deadline of March 1st which is postponed to 21st 2011, which is today. This Regulation for Unsolicited Commercial Communication will help many a people who clearly being annoyed with the Commercial calls and unwanted SMSes.


TRAI says, the delay initiated with the delay in allocation of a uniform number series for fixed line telemarketers by the Department of Telecom (DoT). The new number series which starts from 140 series and there is no proper time frame fixed for this activity. Further, they claims the access providers still yet to configure the number series system and there is no testing done so far. Ultimately, everyone is pointing the others for the delay. However the delays are pretty common and anticipated in Government activities that too in our Telecom Sector.
