“The most popular chat application is now available for the Asha 501 users as well”

Most users of the Nokia Asha 501 devices complained a lot about the unavailability of WhatsApp, a popular chat application for their devices. But not anymore, as the application has now also been made available for the Asha 501 range of devices. The application has been announced for global Asha 501 users and will soon be made available to them.

The application however is not made available as a download but in the form of a software upgrade that will be made available to all the users starting today. Users can check their devices for updates to get the WhatsApp application on their Asha 501 phone. The software upgrade apart from having the WhatsApp application also gets a smarter camera application and one-touch social sharing features along with a more intuitive and social Fastlane home screen for the devices.

“Asha 501 will be the first device on the Asha Platform to support WhatsApp. The updated software will offer Asha consumers with a more social experience, building on the previous Fastlane experience. The new interface comes with a single swipe camera, single touch share to Facebook and ability to track Facebook comments and likes right from your Fastlane screen,” said Viral Oza, Director Marketing, Nokia India.

The WhatsApp application is available only through the software upgrade and going forward new Asha 501 phones would come as a preinstalled application for devices.
