Xiaomi to launch Red Rice budget smartphone for the budget buyers globally

The Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi is planning to launch its budget smartphone Hongmi in the global market very soon for only $135. The official name of the Xioami smartphone is Red Rice and it will be available to buy in Taiwan from December 9th. The phone is already available to buy in the Chinese market since August 2013.

Xiaomi Red Rice comes with a 4.7 inch IPS touch display with the resolution of 720 pixels along with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection against scratches. Processor under the hood in the phone is a 1.5 GHz MediaTek MT6589 Cortex A7 along with PowerVR SGX544 graphics processor. The performance of the phone is further supported by 1 GB of RAM.

The phone comes with 4 GB of internal storage which is further expandable using a micro SD card slot. For imaging the device comes with an 8 MP rear camera with BSI sensor and 1.3 MP front facing shooter. The Xiaomi Red Rice is running on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system along with MIUI V5 user interface from the company.

Xiaomi has priced the phone for NT $3,999 in the Taiwanese market which roughly converts around Rs. 9,000. So, if the phone arrives in India, it will be one of the cheapest Android smartphones with the decent features for the budget conscious buyers.
