Mozilla and ZTE have not yet officially announced the launch of the ZTE Open, Firefox operating system powered smartphone in India but it is already available to buy at eBay.in. Official statement from the company mentions the pricing of the phone Rs. 8,590, but it is selling at much lower price tag of Rs. 6,990 along with free shipping too at the online store.

It is worth pointing out that ZTE earlier announced that it would start shipping the ZTE Open smartphone on ZTE store on eBay US and UK to extend its reach to the mainstream markets. However, India was not in that list to receive the phone at that time.

Features wise, ZTE Firefox OS powered device comes with a 3.5inch HVGA display. It is powered by a 1GHz Cortex A5 processor along with 256MB of RAM. It comes with 512MB of internal storage which is further expandable via microSD card slot. It sports a 3.2MP rear camera and connectivity features of the phone include WiFi, Bluetooth and A-GPS. It is powered by a 1200mAh battery which is capable of providing good up time on the low resolution screen of the phone.

ZTE Open was first unveiled at Mobile World Congress this year and it was launched a few days back in Colombia, Spain and Venezuela on the Telefonica carrier. Despite being a new OS for mobile, Firefox marketplace is already having applications like eBay, Terra, The Weather Channel, Wikipedia, Huffington Post, Facebook, Twitter and SoundCloud etc.
